Work/Life Balance

I don't know about you, but Work/Life balance is something I really struggle with. When you are CEO of your own business (and indie/publishing is a business) there is always a case of the tyranny of the urgent.

Here are a few things I've learned.

  1. You will never be caught up – just take a deep breath and accept it.
  2. Just because something lands on your desk today, doesn't mean you have to attend to it immediately.
  3. Create a writing schedule and stick to it.
  4. Create a quitting time and stick to it.
  5. TAKE A DAY OFF

It's seriously easy in this biz to work every. single. day. This is bad for the body (too much sitting), the heart (not enough IRL relational time), and the soul (not enough time for prayer, if you pray, and reflection – time to calm the mind.)

This is why I've decided to take Sundays off.

(But, this is Sunday, you say. Ah, that's the beauty of scheduling stuff. And I wrote this just before quitting time Sat night.)

That said, I won't be blogging Sundays after this.

Winnie

I hope you have a restful/peaceful day!
