New York, New York!

June 9, 2017

On my way home from Germany I took a two day pitstop in New York to attend Book Expo with my assistant, Shadi Bleiken. We had a great time at the trade show as well as taking in some of the sights.

My biggest takeaway from Book Expo is that Cozy Mystery in general is highly overlooked. Didn’t see one ARC or new release in that genre.  I brought home a large heavy bag of free books (thank you!) all in the mystery/thriller psych thriller genre. I’ll post on my finds later. Romance and YA were well represented too.

It got me to thinking…. (save that for another post!)

My second takeaway was that New York is NOISY. Road way noise of engines and incessant honking, loud-talking/fast-walking shoulder-to-shoulder pedestrians. Music. Sirens.

All very exciting.

We stayed on the 22nd floor.

We took a bus tour – the best way to see the city with a shortage of time.

Check out that traffic.

The Flat Iron. Reminds me of Spider Man for some reason.

Speaking of which…

We also took in a Broadway show – my first!

It was fantastic.

And better because it was set in the 1920s which was a good history lesson for my research for Ginger Gold. It also  had terrific costumes from the era.

A little blurry – kind of like our time there!

The best part of the trip was getting to know my assistant, Shadi, better. Good thing, because next summer she’ll be my daughter-in-law!!!!!

Can you tell I’m excited?

btw: Last night to grab MURDER AT HARTIGAN HOUSE for .99
