January 2018 Month in Review

Wow, January. You came like a blast of wind and slammed the door on your way out – in a good way!

January literally did start in the cold of winter (as it always does for us northerners, but last year, my husband and I decided it was time to start our lives as snowbirds. If you don't know what that is, it's what Canadians call people–usually retirees–who flee the cold winters of Canada to roost for around one to six months in a warmer climate. Norm and I are not retired, but we both have mobile jobs which means we can work from any location. It felt like a no brainer . . .

We've chosen a lovely, quiet, very authentically Mexican village about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta. Love, love, love, the sun, sand and thunderous waves crashing to shore. Something about blue sky and palm trees just soothes my soul, and the food has proven to be fantastic. Good cooks in these parts!

Celebrating

My big book accomplishment was the release of book FIVE in the Ginger Gold Mystery series, Murder at the Mortuary.

I'm very pleased with the reception from readers. Much love is being expressed for my sweet Ginger and her doggie, Boss. <3

Of course, I've been working hard on book SIX, Murder at Kensington Gardens. When my husband and I came here last year, I was working on book ONE, Murder on the SS Rosa. What a difference a year makes!

Another cool thing that happened was a surprise celebrity endorsement by Molly C. Quinn from TV's Castle!  Can't you just picture her as Ginger Gold come to the small screen?

“Clever and entertaining, you’ll love this charming Golden Age mystery series. And the fashion is to die for!”

In case you missed it, I've been writing Journal entries from Ginger's life before her arrival to London in 1923, including her romance with Daniel Gold and her time working for the British Secret Service during the Great War. This is bonus material for my newsletter subscribers only, so if you think you'd like to read it, subscribe to my reader list. https://www.leestraussbooks.com/gingergoldjournalsignup/

Well, January was pretty cool (not weather-wise, haha). I wonder what February has to bring?

How did the new year start off for you?
